Fluff

The year is 3022, and the Galaxy is not as big as it used to be.  Faster Than Light travel allows ships to travel lights years in mere days.  Many different sentient alien species have been discovered and galactic trade is a thriving business.  100 years ago, the second Galactic War saw the devastation of many races and worlds.  Since the end of the war, there has been an uneasy truce. The nations are not friends, but no single race is powerful enough to wage all out war on any of the others.  In these volatile times, small squadrons of ships patrol the galaxy, ostensibly to keep the peace, but often in search of other nation's ships to attack, if they feel they can get away with it.   Some squadrons aren't part of a nation at all, but simply a group of like-minded individuals flying through space in search of adventure and treasure.
